Sutherlandia, Immune-Boosting Wonder Herb from Africa

    Sutherlandia Frutescens

This perennial woody shrub, native to South Africa, with its deeply divided, grey-green leaves and large, showy, bright scarlet flowers and fascinating inflated seedpods, is used as a bitter tonic and a general panacea by the local Khoi and Nama people.

Also known as Cancerbush, this bitter herb, as a tea made of the dried leaves and twigs, has been used for treating stomach problems and internal cancers. The virtues of the plant also extend to include relieving the symptoms of

Dosage:

Half a bunch (±10g = 3 tablespoonsful) of dried ground herb is infused until cold with one liter of boiling water, then strained and taken in half teacupful doses (90ml) three times daily. Children 6 –12 years: one quarter teacupful (45ml).

Sutherlandia is also available in tincture, capsule and tablet form.
